Locust Grove’s First Person Interpreters recreate an 1816 family holiday party in the historic home that will include music and dancing. NEW: in the Visitors’ Center, historic artisans will demonstrate their trades, offer hands-on experiences, and offer wares for sale for a unique holiday shopping experience. Traditional artisan breads from the Thomas Family Winery’s 17th Century style bread oven in Madison, Indiana will also be for sale. Includes a sale of select books from Locust Grove’s famous book sale – perfect for gift giving. The Book Sale continues on Sunday, 10:00-4:30. Refreshments available. Admission: $6 adults, $3 children, free under 6. Free for members of the Friends of Locust Grove.
Participating historic artisans will be: Ewe & Me & Co. (Joe Burch, weaver), Hen House Forge (Aubrey Williams, blacksmith), J. Henderson Artefacts (17th-19th Century Stoneware), R. McKinney 1777 (Woodworker), The Thomas Family Winery’s Artisan Bread Shop (Just bread; wine not available at this event), Virginia Floor Cloth & Textile Company (Virginia Tucker, painted floorcloths, hand dyed and printed cloth items), Wax Portraits (Donna Weaver, sculpted wax portraits), Westfork Forge (Glenn McClainn, fine swords and knives).
