SUMMARY:Colonel Clark's Derby
DESCRIPTION:In Louisville and Southern Indiana\, the Clark name is everywhere: schools\, bridges\, roads\, town names… \nBut one Clark left his name on Louisville like no other. Meriwether Lewis Clark\, Jr.\, grandson of William Clark\, was the founder of the Kentucky Derby. Join Locust Grove’s own Ronnie Dreistadt as we learn more about Clark and his goal to create the most famous horse race in the world\, and why he believed it to be his biggest failure. \nThis lecture is presented as part of our Afternoon Lecture Series\, on the first Wednesday of each month\, and takes place on Wednesday\, May 6. Doors open at 12:45 PM for drinks and refreshments\, and the lecture will begin at 1:15 PM. \nTickets are $8 for Locust Grove members and $10 for non-members.
