SUMMARY:Colliding Worlds: George Croghan's America
DESCRIPTION:Among America’s historic figures are many whose names faded into obscurity\, while men of lesser merit became national heroes. George Croghan (c.1718-1782) is one of these forgotten men. This lecture will explore Croghan’s life and how he bridged colliding worlds: colonists and Indigenous nations; loyalists and patriots. Join Locust Grove’s own Kaitlyn Tisdale\, MA\, as we learn more about George Croghan and his role in shaping the American frontier as we commemorate America’s semiquincentennial.  \nThe lecture is presented as part of Locust Grove’s Afternoon Lecture Series\, on the first Wednesday of each month\, and takes place on Wednesday\, April 1. Doors will open at 12:50 PM for desserts and beverages; lectures begin at 1:15. \nLocust Grove members may purchase tickets for $8\, and the general public for $10. \n \nKaitlyn Tisdale is a Louisville\, KY native and the Director of Mission at Historic Locust Grove. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Kentucky and her Master’s degree in Historic Preservation and Folk Studies from Western Kentucky University. Kaitlyn has worked as a public historian and museum professional for 15 years and has been with Historic Locust Grove since 2020.

DESCRIPTION:Join us on Sunday\, April 19\, 2026\, inside the Great Parlor on the second floor of the Historic Home at Locust Grove for the April installment of the 2026 Emilie Strong Smith Chamber Music Series. \nMusicians from the Louisville Academy of Music present an exploration of American music spanning 250 years\, tracing the evolution of musical styles and influences that shaped our nation’s cultural landscape. This journey through America’s musical heritage offers a fitting tribute as we approach the nation’s 250th anniversary.  \nThe concert will begin at 3 PM. Tickets are $30 each for the general public and $25 each for Locust Grove Members.
