2026 Emilie Smith Strong Chamber Music Series: Echoes of Enlightenment

Event Details

Join us on Sunday, March 8, 2026, inside the Great Parlor of the Historic Home at Locust Grove for the March installment of the 2026 Emilie Smith Strong Chamber Music Series.

In celebration of Women’s History Month and the US250, join violinist Bill Bauer in this string quartet concert featuring a newly unearthed work by one of America’s earliest female composers, Christianna Lassle, whose music Benjamin Franklin collected in his personal library. Other presentations include Franklin’s own composition, String Quartet, and music Mozart composed specifically for Franklin’s glass armonica – a rare instrument with an ethereal sound.

The concert will begin at 3 PM. Tickets are $30 each for the general public and $25 each for Locust Grove Members.
