Discounts are offered for Military, AAA, AARP and other organizations. Contact us to see if your organization applies. For groups of 10 or more, ask us about group rates and schedule your visit in advance.

We are closed to the public throughout the month of January, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and the first Saturday in May for Kentucky Derby Day.

Our Visitors’ Center is fully wheelchair-accessible and includes a ramp to help with entry. Unfortunately, the historic house is not accessible for wheelchairs. Inside the house there are two staircases with railing on the right-hand side. For those with mobility concerns about the steps up to and inside the house, there is a full guided tour of the interior of the house that can be accessed on an iPad at the Visitors’ Center.

Outside of our buildings, paved and gravel paths connect the Visitors’ Center to the historic buildings on the property while grassy and mulched pathways connect the Visitors’ Center to the gardens and outbuildings. Some of the outbuildings on the property also require a step up or a step down for entry. If you need help scheduling a tour specific to your needs or have a question about accessibility, please contact us.

Photography is welcome in the museum gallery, during our tours and in the outbuildings. We kindly ask that photos be taken without flash to help us preserve our collections.

Children of all ages are welcome at Locust Grove and are invited to take the Guided House Tour or visit the outbuildings on our grounds. Throughout the year we also host historic demonstrations and family-friendly events. You can find a listing of all events here.

Strollers are not permitted inside the historic house and may be left at the Visitors’ Center or outside the house.

If you need a quiet space or nursing room during your visit, please ask the front desk for assistance and we will gladly guide you to our space.

To help with the preservation of our site, we ask you to please refrain from consuming food or drinks on our tours or in the gallery of the Visitors’ Center. Food and drink are allowed on the general grounds of our site. Snacks and bottled water are available for purchase in the museum store. Drinking fountains are located in the Visitors’ Center next to the restrooms. Visit our admissions desk for information about area restaurants.

Free on-site parking is available in our two parking lots in front of the Visitors’ Center. Overflow parking is also available in the field next to the Pavilion.

Friendly pets are welcome on the grounds but must always remain leashed. Only service animals are allowed inside of our buildings and historic house. Please help other people enjoy our grounds by remembering to pick up after your pet.

Public restrooms are located inside the Visitors’ Center and within the Pavilion during special events.
